P.S.

A couple of P.S.'s for those who have never been to Cyprus before

They drive on the left!

Don't park too close to the kerb. They are very high and if you have a low car you may have difficulty getting out.

Apart from in the town centres, traffic is extremely light.

Opticians offer significant savings on designer prescription glasses and sunglasses. Their service is very quick too. Vari-focals in less than a week is the norm.

Shopping is very good, particularly for quality leather goods.

The currency is the Euro.

The local wines and beer are very good, and very cheap.

Cyprus is known as Aphrodite's Island for good reason. There are numerous archeological sites related to the Goddess herself, and you can't move very far in Cyprus without coming across ancient sites. Paphos itself has numerous sites, including the Paphos Mosaics site by the Harbour, and Paphos, or Pafos as it is also known, is named after the mythological daughter of Venus (the Roman name for Aphrodite) and Pygmalion. The town and the surrounding area is so steeped in history that it has been described as an open air museum, and UNESCO designated the whole town as a World Heritage Centre.

Petra Tou Romiou at dusk

Found along the old main road from Paphos to Limassol, Petra Tou Romiou has been regarded since ancient times as the birthplace of Aphrodite, goddess of love and fertility.

One of our favourite sites, and definitely our most photographed, the rocks will also appear elsewhere on the site!
